Ho Tran Trading Company shipping pitaya around the world

As produce exports out of Asia increase, pitaya grown in the region is finding receptive consumers worldwide. The Ho Tran Trading Company is hoping to take advantage of that by shipping their Vietnamese-grown fruit to markets around the world.

The Ho Tran Trading Company is one of the leading exporters of fresh pitaya in Vietnam. They have farms from which they cultivate the fruit for export to Asian markets like Malaysia, Singapore, India, Thailand and China, as well as the United States, U.K. and Russia. Currently, they export most of their fruit to Asian countries. That popularity is due to its price and the relative ease with which it can be grown, according to Pham Tuan Anh of the Ho Tran Trading Company.

“It's a cheap fruit and it's available the entire year,” he said. He added that they ship, on average, 50 40-foot containers for export every week. They do that, he said, because consumers see the value in the fruit.

“We can offer prices that are cheaper than most suppliers in Vietnam because we have our own farms in addition shares in other farms,” he said. “So because of that and because the fruit has good color, flavor and many uses, it's popular.”
