Philippines: AgriNurture growing from humble origins
From its own farms and from the produce of contract growers all over the country, ANI is able to supply domestically produced fruits such as mango, banana, sweet pineapple and papaya to customers in Japan, Korea, China, Europe, the Middle East, and North America. It has invested in a Vapour Heat treatment (VHT) and Hot Water treatment (HWT) facility for the mangoes it exports to ensure compliance to strictest international standards. ANI also supplies the fresh fruit and vegetables requirements of leading retail and institutional accounts in the Philippines.
In addition to distribution of fresh produce, ANI also manufactures and distributes processed fruit beverages, fruit purée and mixes, dried fruit snacks, frozen fruits and vegetables, tomato paste, dairy and grains.
ANI’s family of brands now includes FCA (Fresh Choice Always) for fresh and processed wellness food products; La Natural for coconut juice and Nikka for mango nectar and tamarind juices, all of which are exported.
In 2012, ANI signed a partnership with Black River Capital Partners Fund (Food) LP, an independently managed fund affiliated with Minneapolis based Cargill group and one of the world’s largest and most influential food and agriculture conglomerates. This affiliation with Black River and Cargill will play a vital role in the company’s expansion plans.
In pursuit of its vision to become a world class supplier of high-quality fresh & processed agricultural food products, ANI recast its business structure from adopting a purely farm-to-market trading business model into a "farm-to-plate" based concept supported by full forward and backward integrations. As a result, ANI’s breadth of operations, both in the local and global markets, have consequently expanded and this "farm to plate" model provided a strategic advantage hinged on the synergy of all its business activities from farming, manufacturing, packing, trading, distribution, up to sales and retail operations. This unique and competitive agri-business model is complemented by purposive Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) initiatives that help address pressing concerns about climate change, workers welfare, community protection, and related concerns. This strategy has put ANI in the best position to promote the private sector participation in agriculture as both a viable business opportunity and as an effective tool for nation-building.
