Between January and July 2012 fresh tangerine exports grew to USD 54 million, equivalent to an advance of 21.2% year on year. The value of shipments to Europe increased by 11.5%, while shipments to North America grew 39.4%, it is important to note that both areas are major export destinations with shares of 57.6% and 38.8%, respectively.
Increased exports to Europe were a result of increased shipments to United Kingdom (31% growth), Ireland (37.1%), Finland (15%), and Russia (15%), while larger shipments were sent to North America due to an increased US orders (41.9%) and Canada (36.3%).
The other countries represented 3.5% of the value of tangerine shipments, however, a high dynamism was registered to destinations like Colombia (44.7%), Costa Rica (25%), Ecuador (56.8%), Mexico (105.4%) and Guatemala (118.8%), reflecting its high growth potential.
