Certhon celebrates with SuprimAir greenhouse

Certhon will use the next Horti Fair to show the completely air-conditioned SuprimAir greenhouse to the public. In this greenhouse the ventilation windows, vents, heating, cooling, lighting and control are completely integrated. This makes it possible to create an ideal growing climate, handle energy efficiently and lower the burden of disease all year round.

Jardin de Rabelais' SuprimAir in France

Ronaldt Thoen of Certhon says that the SuprimAir greenhouse was mainly developed for growers in areas where a dry and barren climate can make it hard to produce all year round. "In these countries the cultivation is difficult in the summer due to the high outside temperature. With the SuprimAir greenhouse the temperature and moisture and therefore the greenhouse climate can be controlled into the small details. A greenhouse system that cools, heats, but also humidifies and de-humidifies. The application of the system is also suitable for a more moderate climate; usually the SuprimAir greenhouse can be tailor-made and re-engineered for every climate. The SuprimAir greenhouse offers extra possibilities, mainly for experienced horticulturists because you can grow on the 'edge'. But another goal can also be reached with the conditioned greenhouse: the production can be regulated and the grower can enter the Autumn with a strong plant."

At the moment the finishing touches are being made to the first SuprimAir greenhouse that Certhon has built for the French Jardin de Rabelais. This grower will grow sweet snack tomatoes under lights in his 3 hectare SuprimAir greenhouse. "This grower will regulate his production in the summer," adds Thoen. "He is consciously choosing not to peak too much. This costs a lot of labour compared to a lower yield. On the other hand he will enter the autumn with a good production against better prices."
