Peru: Expoalimenta 2012 to generate $500m in commerce
In its fourth edition, the Expoalimentaria 2012 fair will generate more than U.S. $ 500 million for commerce.
The event, organized by ADEX with the valuable support of PromPeru, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), will be held from 19 to 21 September and will leave their traditional venue in San Borja (Pentagonito) to develop in the Air Force Base "Las Palmas" located in the district of Surco, with an area of 20,500 m2.
"To this date we have sold over 85% of the stands so we encourage those who haven't secured a stand yet, to do so. The Expoalimentaria will have a total of 592 exhibitors, of whom 442 are nationals," explained President of the Association of Exporters (ADEX), Juan Velasquez Varillias.
Entrepreneurs come from Tumbes, Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Loreto, Ayacucho, Huancavelica, Arequipa, Tacna, among others. Meanwhile, 150 booths will be for international exhibitors from Ecuador, Brazil, Mexico, Netherlands, Spain, Colombia, Bolivia, Italy, France, Switzerland, and others.
Local visitors have been estimated at 30,000, surpassing the 27,273 of 2011, while foreign participants could amount to 2,000. Regarding international buyers, the presence of more than 40 VIP buyers have been confirmed so far, like the supermarket Loblaw Companies Limited of Canada, HEB and Winn Dixie Inc U.S.; Unifrutti Arab Emirates, among others.
Side Events
As part of the fair will also develop complementary activities such as the I International Convention Packaging for food, the II Seminar Emprende Peru, the International Convention V of Organic Products, and VII Aquaculture and Fisheries Convention will be held in Piura September 17.
Similarly, for the first time the "Corner Café & Cacao" and "Corner of Andean grains" will be held. There will also be Peruvian and international dishes for the sector from natural ingredients and products in the Hall of Pisco and the Salon Gourmet. Once again development of products and innovative processes in the agribusiness and fisheries sector will be rewarded in the Innovation Competition.
Peru Natura 2012, in its sixth year, will feature 30 exhibitors that will offer the best of the flagship products of native biodiversity such as Peruvian maca Andean grains (quinoa, amaranth and cañichua), Sacha Inchi, Lucuma, nail cat, camu camu, among others, they stand out not only for their nutritional properties but also for their potential to be developed in various sectors in addition to food such as : cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries.
The fair Expoalimentaria which has been recognized as an important business platform of food and beverage industry in Latin America, is project by ADEX that has the valuable support of PromPeru, the Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and collaboration of El Comercio as Media Partner.
