"At the moment courgettes are going reasonably well. The peak months for production are July, August and September. Throughout the season, the production and market remained even: no extreme high or low prices. What is striking with courgettes is the price difference between the greenhouse and open ground courgettes. The range of open ground is of course bigger. Greenhouse courgettes are on average 5 cents more expensive per piece. This is partly due to the appearance of courgettes. There is no weather damage because it is protected cultivation."
Aubergines
Unlike the doubled production of courgettes, the proportion of aubergines in recent years remained fairly constant. According to Benny the season has been very mixed. It started badly, and this was especially due to the fact that large volumes came from Spain. According to rumours in the market, this year there are also less exports to Russia, while in previous years they were at a fairly high level. It has picked up in the last few days, but it looks like it may sink again. Periods of poor and good market conditions for aubergines have been changing quickly this season.
