Wholesum Harvest extends deadline for Grow With Us sweepstakes
The grand prize, if the company receives 3,500 likes by the end of the contest, is a trip to Arizona, where the winner will enjoy a three day, two night stay for two at the luxurious Tubac Golf Resort and Spa in Tubac, Arizona, and experience the latest in greenhouse technology at a party celebrating the first harvest of Wholesum’s new 12-acre Amado, Arizona greenhouse.
"You haven’t seen a greenhouse like this before," said Ricardo Crisantes, vice president of sales and marketing, Wholesum Harvest. "We are implementing a closed greenhouse design that will enable us to achieve a reduction in energy consumption and water usage, and provide a favorable growing environment for organics by eliminating the need for chemical pest control."
The state-of-the-art greenhouse, currently nearing completion, is based on closed farming systems pioneered in the Netherlands.
Expected to generate nine million pounds of tomatoes in its first harvest, the facility is being constructed of steel and aluminum sourced in Holland and glass sourced in the United States. By capturing and storing solar energy and reusing drain water, the greenhouse should generate a 30 percent energy savings and 40 percent water savings over traditional greenhouses.
Other sweepstakes prizes include: a $500 grocery gift card if the company achieves 2,000 likes by the end of the contest; a free crate of produce awarded for each increase of 500 likes; and $10 gifts awarded daily until the end of the contest. Wholesum will award the $500 gift card and the Arizona vacation if it receives 5,000 likes by the end of the contest period.
"The more likes we receive, the more prizes we award, and the better the prizes get," said Crisantes. "We encourage everyone to invite their friends and family to participate in the sweepstakes, and we look forward to seeing our contest winner at our greenhouse at harvest time."
