Chile: Odepa announces improved payment for frozen raspberries

After the eruption of the Cordon del Caulle, the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies announced an improvement in the purchase of raspberries, after losses due to ash contamination.

It is noteworthy that this year, exports and national negotiations were stalled, a situation that led to the national raspberry growers unable to harvest.

However, at the end of July, according to statistics of Foodnews, it was reported that international prices are on the rise, before the heat wave and drought that would affect the second largest exporter of the frozen berry, Serbia.

Although there is no definite result, reported Odepa, it is estimated that the decrease in production would come close to 40% compared to 2011.

Despite this, it is expected for prices in the international market to rise for 2012 and 2013, but without reaching those obtained in 2009 and 2010.
