He explained that the agreement will help improve and harmonise fumigation treatments applied to products sold in Peru, Australia, and some Asia-Pacific and Caribbean countries.
He pointed out that it will cover health protection locally and internationally, stopping the spread of pests.
During the signing ceremony of the agreement reached by SENASA's boss, M.V. Óscar Domínguez Falcón and the Australian Ambassador, Mr John Wods, it was reported that it will make it possible to regulate fumigation systems, thereby improving pest control and opening the way to new markets for several specific products, such as fruit and asparagus.
This way, SENASA and DAFF, institutions specialised in quarantine services, will work together to develop and coordinate programs oriented towards mitigating quarantine risks associated with the movement of commercial cargo between countries.
