Germany: High temperatures, high demand for melons

The summer heat of two weeks ago has been good for melon sales in Germany, reports the German Agricultural Information Company (AMI). Stocks, which were weighing heavily on the market the past few weeks, are rapidly decreasing. In the meantime, suppliers can't get the melons on the market soon enough, especially when it comes to watermelons.

The price for watermelons in German stores is currently around 0.30 Euro and 0.69 Euro per kilo. Wholesaler prices were able to stay at a good level. Price increases were rare since volatile weather is predicted.
