Netherlands: Species development Driscoll's main task

The cultivation of soft fruit at Driscoll’s has increased considerably: the fields where strawberries, raspberries and blackberries grow have become ever bigger.

This is because of an increasing demand for fruits with better eat characteristics. Also retailers go more and more for quality over price.

Driscoll's continue to see the development of their own species as their main task, trying to bring as many good qualities as possible to one fruit.

Raspberries represent the smallest product group of the soft fruit group. Driscoll’s has introduced though several new species on the market which causes a comeback of the fruit.

Driscoll’s is active worldwide and present on all continents. In this way they supply soft fruit during the whole year. In Holland and Belgium the growers provide fruit for the summer.
