The Bureau for Statistics in the German federal state of Baden-Württemberg has announced that up to the end of June 2012 about 9,800 tons of green and white asparagus were harvested. The yield of asparagus this season was with this on average 50 kg. each 100 m2.
Converted this asparagus harvest would allow each child in Baden-
Württemberg to enjoy about 0,9 kg of this lovely vegetable. The cultivation area remained the same as in the previous season and amounted to 2,400 HA.
