Regular growth and coarseness with Volante

Glasshouse horticultural company Tuindershoek in IJsselmuiden have the necessary experience with the variety Volante. The variety is being grown here on 7,2 HA in a 3-stem system. The sowing date was 18 October. Now halfway the month of July it is time for an up-date. The production up to and including week 27 is 15.1 kg/metre. Volante grew well with a regular temperature system of 21 degrees/day on average and 19 degrees during the night. When the day temperature is high at 23 degrees the nightly temperature is adjusted.

The growth has been going well up to the third setting and in order to maintain this diffuse chalk was spread round the laying out of the 4th setting. This went well for Volante. We see regular growth with equable setting. The plant burden in week 28 was about 38 fruits per m2.

Coarseness
Tuindershoek have an average fruit weight of 185 gr. About 81% of the fruit is
85 mm and 10% is bigger than 95 mm. The rest is 75 mm. Class 2 is low, approximately 1,5% up to week 27.

Volante is early ripening with the fruit. Furthermore the variety does not suffer from
anthocyanin forming and holds on to fruit weight and size well. That was also the reason that the brothers Kaashoek have chosen the variety Volante.
