Researchers at the Technology Center for Agribusiness in Huelva (Adesva), located in Lepe (Huelva), have proven successfully a biodegradable plastic with vegetable origin to cover strawberries, so that it would not produce an environmental impact at the end of the campaign.
This has been explained to Efe center, which specify that the project was worked on by the Ministry of Innovation of the Board, along with European private companies and research centers like the University of Lisbon and Aarhus in Denmark, with an expectation that the new plastic can be used in strawberry plantations
in about two years.
The project aims to develop new agricultural plastics of vegetale origin and generate knowledge about their use to avoid the impact of waste on the environment and excess costs generated by this activity since the end of the strawberry season is a problem, for employers and the environment at the moment that person is doing something.
