"Together with our partners in Israel we have been successful to import the first container for export with a correct brix content. During a recent visit I have convinced myself of the quality at the kibbutz before harvesting started last week" Manfred says. "Also the market conditions are favourable with volumes which are not too large from other countries of origin and a good demand."
"With the Shelly-variety we have added a variety to our assortment, which has soft and fibre free pulp, a nice colour on the outside and a relatively slim stone. The taste is soft and sweet and the peel is thin and pliable. The Shelly will be available till September" the importer tells. "Together with Shelly the other varieties, such as Tommy Atkins, Haden and Maya will also be available from us."
The ideal growing conditions make that the Shelly, but also the other varieties from Israel, do not have the same quality problems we know from other countries of origin, with as a recent example the Kent from Ivory Coast with relatively much anthracnose as a result of rain. The result is that Shelly is perfectly suited for clients, who have ready-to-eat products in their assortment. And clients have an advantage with this, compared to other varieties from other countries of origin, with a first class shelf life."
