Spain: 'La Picota de Jerte' aiming for market position in Holland

The cherry 'La Picota de Jerte', Extremadura’s number one fruit, strives to make a place for itself on Dutch markets, and was launched in The Netherlands on July 6, says ABC.

The 'Picota del Jerte' was presented by the brand ‘Alimentos de Extremadura’, in collaboration with Valle del Jerte cooperations, in a chain of Dutch supermarkets.

According to local press, ‘Deen Supermarkets’ with 62 stores in the north of Holland, introduced the cherry during a succession of special events. The occasion marks the first official sales promo in Holland under de seal of ‘Alimentos de Extremadura’.

Regional government, in a bid to conquer foreign markets, has launched the 'Extremadura Avante' program, meant to boost the rural community.
