UK: Morrisons promotion sees Pink Lady sales soar

The latest fresh produce promotion from Morrisons has seen sales of Pink Lady apples soar to record-breaking levels as shoppers rush to take advantage of the retailer’s half price promotion.

The three week £1 per bag promotion (25.06.12 to 15.07.12) will see sales of over 9 million individual Pink Lady apples, encouraging existing Pink Lady shoppers to increase trip volume as well as introducing new shoppers to the variety.

Glenn Bewley, Pink Lady apple buyer for Morrisons, said: “The Morrisons deal has been heavily promoted via radio and television adverts and the investment has clearly paid off. Over 3.9 million Pink Lady apples were sold in a single week, demonstrating that customers have really enjoyed this great value offer. The added bonus is that this deal has encouraged more shoppers to buy fresh fruit than they might normally have considered which can only be a good thing.”
