Lima's Chamber of Commerce informed that 600 Peruvian food exporters to the US could undergo inspections by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to verify that their products are safe for consumption. The US is the main importer of Peruvian food products, with a total value of 1,020 million US Dollars during 2011. Around 683 firms supply products for the North American market, according to alert@economica.
