US: BGP International hires Michael Gainsborough
Michael grew up surrounded by the fresh produce industry, with the Gainsborough family involved in Californian produce dating back to 1932. Michael personally has 22 plus years of experience in the California produce/agriculture industry, with in-depth, in the field knowledge of produce operations at all levels. Michael’s role will have a special emphasis on buying grapes and citrus in the San Joaquin Valley, focused primarily on the export of premium quality. In addition, Michael brings past experience with Mexican avocados, grapes, mangoes, and Washington apples, pears and cherries. He is fluent in three languages and has travelled throughout Asia, South and Central America, and Europe.
Michael is excited about the opportunity to work for BGP, an established trading company. He says "with my expertise in sourcing the best quality fresh produce, and BGP’s extensive customer base, together we can deliver more American fresh produce to BGP’s customers worldwide."
BGP International has been in the fresh produce industry since 1915. The company has a strong presence in the Asian region, exporting citrus, grapes, cherries, stonefruit, pears and vegetables from Australia. It also has programs exporting Egyptian citrus, Pakistan kinnows, South African citrus and Chinese fresh produce. It will now add American produce to its offerings to customers.
