Seed potato export figures from Britain to be revealed at Potato Europe
“This year we have achieved another record for seed potato exports,” says Potato Council head of seed and export Rob Burns. “We have already exceeded last year’s record-breaking figures and we haven’t finished counting yet.
“One of the drivers behind the surge in exports is the increasing awareness in buyers from overseas who appreciate the health benefits of the favourable Scottish climate for producing high quality seed potatoes. We have a unique partnership between Potato Council and Scottish Government that allows us to effectively promote our seed to our export markets.
“Moreover, our growing reputation as world-wide seed suppliers is a result of careful development of seed potatoes that will give great results in the varied climates and growing conditions where our customers are based. In addition, our exporters take great pride in ensuring high quality standards are maintained.”

Produced for markets as varied as Morocco, Turkey, South America and Asia, the wide range of varieties available for export from Britain includes those suitable for a wide range of local cooking methods, and for chips, and processing.
“Our seed is grown for a range of end-uses - from processing to table use; come and talk to our professional exporters who will be able to provide you with exactly what you need.”
