Switzerland: In the autumn Migros subsidiary LeShop opens drive-in

First order online and then go to the drive-in to have your shopping put into the boot of your car. Migros subsidiary, LeShop will offer its clients this shortly, as per the Swiss website swissinfo.ch. With this pilot project LeShop follows the example of competitor Coop.

The Migros subsidiary will open a so-called LeShop.ch Drive this coming Autumn. For this LeShop have instructed design and architect bureau Atelier Oï from Neuenburg to redesign a former garage in the Swiss Studen into a 'newfangled take-away warehouse'. When collecting the products the client does not even to get out of the car and can leave again within five minutes. The service is free of charge.

Christian Wanner of LeShop describes the new service as 'very practical and comfortable'. In this way working people can order their shopping by computer or smartphone during their lunch hour. It is difficult to guess how many clients will use this new service. Migros competitor Coop has already obtained the first experiences with a drive-in. According to their spokesman Urs Meier the reactions of the clients are extremely positive. However, the use so far is not as yet tempestuous. "It needs some time before people are used to a new concept like this" Meier explains. "However, we are satisfied with the present development."
