Italy: Alessandro Canalella new CEO of Simba S.p.A

Alessandro Canalella (in the picture) has been named CEO of Simba. The board of directors consists of Raffaella Orsero, president, Antonio Orsero and Daniele Gazzano, advisory directors and the new CEO, Alessandro Canalella.

Alessandro Canalella, 41, joined the company in 2001, after graduating in Economic Studies. He started his career at the management and finance department, then he became director of the marketing area in 2008.

“Canalella joined the company a decade ago,” Raffaella Orsero comments. “His nomination confirms the group's strategy of prioritising internal advancement in order to reward those who identify much more with the group's founding values.”

Simba S.p.A.
Simba s.p.a., situated in Italy, France, Costa Rica, and Colombia, has been importing exotic fruit over 35 years and its turnover is about 200 million Euro. Since 2012 Simba has been distributing bananas and pineapples under the brand “Fratelli Orsero” in the Mediterranean Basin, managing directly the whole chain from production to consumers. “Fratelli Orsero” represents the tradition and the passion of a family farm for top products.

Simba is part of GF Group, the largest importer and distributor of fresh fruit and vegetable in Mediterranean Europe. Over the years the group has diversified its activities and developed a highly efficient and integrated logistic division. GF Group employs 3,500 people and has annual turnover of more than 960 million Euro. It has offices mainly in Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Costa Rica, Colombia and Argentina.
