The estimate for the European apricot harvest drawn up in May, had to be somewhat revised in June. Initially a yield of 593,600t was expected but this has now been adjusted to 595,056t. That is 22% more than in 2011. Still, most countries have had to lower their estimates; such as Spain (-6%) and Greece (-2). These countries had originally expected a harvest that was 69% and 52% larger than last year, respectively. The Italian estimate has stayed the same with 245,270t (+8/2011). France is expecting an apricot production of 179,334t. This is 17% more than in 2011 and 6% more than the initial estimate. The estimation for peaches and nectarines has also been adjusted. This means that the total yield will be 2.9t lower than was estimated in May. The harvest estimate has been slightly lowered in most countries. Italy is the exception as they have not revised their expectations.
