Spain: LED technology in the field
The average age for lighting installations in the industry is about 30 years, but the opportunity offered by the new LED technology, combined with control and a management system, presents a energy saving of 80%, apart from improving worker's security and productivity. All of these are obvious advantages regarding maintenance and short periods of investment return.
"The objective of these journeys is to make available for industry and businesses, the most efficient forms to be in the forefront of renewable energies, to the ones investing in competitiveness and caring for the environment," said Councillor for Industry and Commerce, Mariano Baonza.
A good illumination, apart from being healthier and bringing a sense of well-being for workers, also brings more profit (as work speeds up), less errors and refusals, more security, less accidents and less work absence. As if it isn't enough, it also adds up more light quality and more uniform lighting.
For example, in a study made in the metallurgic industry, about tasks of moderate vision, this lighting is estimated to bring an increase in light levels from 300 to 500 Lux, which translates in a productivity increase of 8%, that can reach 20% if the light level goes from 300 to 2,000 Lux.
In the case of industry illumination, there are many LED technology solutions that, together, will control systems and manage lighting, allowing energy savings close to 80%. Along with the reduction of energy costs, comes a reduction in maintenance and down-time costs, due to the longer life of these lights (50,000 hours). It also raises the security levels as this technology doesn't use any heavy metals, avoiding possible accidents in the production plants.
