Raspberry cultivation: British-Swiss collaboration

Of all kinds of berries planted, raspberries rank second only to strawberries. "To make sure raspberries also flourish in private gardens and that gardeners can harvest sweet fruits, there is still a lot to been done cultivation wise. Although great progress has been made in the past two decades," according to Marcus Kobelt, founder and owner of Lubera AG, the Swiss fruit and berry specialist.

This is why Lubera AG has started a collaboration with the tradition rich British grower East Malling, which will celebrate it's 100th anniversary next year. The raspberry species that will come out of this collaboration will be marketed by Lubera in Europe and are specially meant for individual use in gardens. "With this collaboration we can extend our own raspberry variety Pipeline with more species. We can now exactly pick the kinds that will prosper in private gardens. The focus for this is on very different areas than for varieties intended for professional cultivation. We're not looking for raspberry varieties with the highest yield. best transportability and longest shelf life, but for good taste, ease and robustness!" says Markus Kobelt.
