The transnational Standard Fruit Company announced the expansion of its banana crop in the Valle del Aguán (Honduras).
Francisco Romero Vaca, chief executive of Standard confirmed the expansion of farms for growing bananas in the Aguán, the area of increased production and the best land for this fruit.
According to estimates by producers, the country annually exports 26 million boxes of bananas, mainly to the U.S. and European market.
In Isletas, the heavy machinery of the Standard Fruit Company works to clear land for planting more banana hectares, which generates more employment. "We have good expectations to increase the number of produced cases," said Romero Vaca.
