From Almería and Huelva

Spanish companies to present fruit and veg in Slovenia and Czech Republic

From 3 to 5 of July, five horticultural companies from Andalucia will present their quality offer to a group of importers from Czech Republic and Slovenia. The action has the support from Extenda - The Andalucia Agency for External Promotion.

The commercial meetings will take place on the 3 and 4 of July in Prague and on the 5 of July in Ljubljana, according to information provided by Extenda.

The objective of the international promotion action is to get an introduction to these markets and to support the launching of new products, favouring the widening of contacts by participating companies.

The companies from Andalucia participating in this mission come from Almería (Agro San Isidro, Darzoves Ispanija, Mabe and Unica Group) and Huelva (La Canastita).

The products to be presented are fruits, vegetables and wild fruits.

In 2011 Czech Republic imported products valued in 40.7 million Euro, representing 26.6% of Spanish exports. Slovenia imported 300 million Euro of fruits and vegetables last year, from that, 14 million Euro of products came from Spain.

Israel, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands and Spain have been the main suppliers of Slovenia for the last few years.

According to data from Extenda, in 2011, Andalucía exported 46.7 million Euro of horticultural products to Czech Republic, just 1% more than in 2010.

Andalucía is still the second biggest exporting region in Spain, right after the Valencia Community, with 143 exporting companies (3% more than in 2010).

Regarding the Slovenian market, this is still one to be explored, since Andalucía exports in 2011 were sparse - almost 2 million Euro. Despite that in the first three months of 2010 there was a 20.7% increase in sales of fruits and vegetables, by comparison with the same period of the previous year.
