Chile and Korea agreement for blueberry

Chilean blueberries will be able to access the Korean market of more than 48 million inhabitants from 15 July. This represents an opportunity for the sector to keep on consolidating its international position of trustworthy supplier of first range products.

The Minister of Agriculture, Luis Mayol, highlighted this opening underlining the huge opportunities for Chilean agriculture. "Chile is known as a main supplier for fresh fruit in the Southern Hemisphere and the first world exporter of grapes, blueberries, plums and dehydrated apple, so by accessing the Korean market will allow us to raise sales, that during 2011 halted at 14,000 million Dollars," said the State secretary.

During the recent tour in Asia, the Government of India made a request to the World Commerce Organization to authorize the import of Chilean avocado by India. Also the signing, next week, during the visit of the Chinese prime minister, Wen Jiabao, of the border opening that will allow avocado to get into the Asian giant.

Avocado and nuts without shell about to go to China

A series of agreements will be signed by the Chinese minister of Agriculture, Han Changfu, and the Chilean minister, Luis Mayol, invited to be present during the official visit of the Chinese prime-minister.

Among the subjects to be talked about there's a memorandum about the installation of a collective farm from China in Chile, to copy the experience of a Chilean farm in China.

They will also talk about a cooperation agreement for 5 years for sanitary and watering subjects.

It's expected that the agreements will be signed and allow exports to China of nuts without shell and avocado.

An important point to be highlighted is that a delegation from the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) is in the country to deal with pending affairs about the market opening, particularly about nuts, avocados and citrus exports.
