Germany: Moderate asparagus season because of cold

Slightly warmer weather during the last few weeks would have been nice, as announced on the German website www.rp-online.de. "The weather was not fantastic and as a result neither was the harvest," Ralf Große Dankbar, asparagus advisor for Agriculture NorthRhine-Westphalia said. The approximately 450 asparagus growers could not pull the desired quantity. Harvesting of the noble vegetable traditionally ends on 24 June. In NorthRhine-Westphalia asparagus occupy the largest growing area of all vegetable varieties.
