Egypt: Global Fruits 30% sales increase via tacler

Shaimaa Emam of Egyptian export company Global Fruits from Cairo is a daily presence in the tacler.com community. The reason is obvious: "we enjoy a 30% sales increase compared to last year. I can find information about fresh markets in different countries and I also get an idea about the price levels. I can offer our products for free on tacler, meet new people and develop good relationships with people we previously did not work with," says Emam. "Besides increasing sales I also met a lot of new friends in various countries through tacler. People like Mariya Dermendzhieva, Luigi Bompadre, Jasmine Shu, Gerda Bloton and John Henson - just to mention a few."

One of the concrete benefits in terms of trade and business contacts via the site, is that tacler helped to open the UK market for Global Fruits as it previously had no business there at all. "At the moment we are in the grape season and we increased our grape sales by 10% compared to last season via tacler, and I believe that tacler will continue to be a support to us. In fact, by July we will start other varieties of Thompson grapes, Red Globe and Royal Autumn, which will also be made available via tacler," says Shaimaa.

She learned about tacler via FreshPlaza.com, as she receives the daily FreshPlaza newsletter. Next she added tacler founder André van der Wiel (who also founded FreshPlaza.com in 2005) on Skype, who helped her set up the free tacler account. The use of tacler isn’t more challenging than the use of social media websites, "yet in my mind we cannot compare tacler and other websites, especially twitter and facebook, as those are good mostly for personal and social issues rather than for business," comments Emam.

In closing, Emam points to the uncertain political situation in Egypt of the moment saying, "We’re in tacler with a lot of other people. We’re wishing everyone the very best. We hope that within the few next days, Egypt will enjoy a new presidency, that is able to move the country to the top and draw out a future for all of us together under the banner of Freedom."
