Germany: Import of guava and mangos increasing

The import of guava and mangos to Germany has been uncertain in the last few years. In 2007, a volume of 48,420 tons of guava and mangos were imported. The volume was at 54,803 ton in 2008, but declined the following year. In 2011 the volume was 18% higher than in 2007 at 57,160 tons. The most important countries in terms of importing these exotic fruits are Brazil and Peru. Since 2007 the supply coming from Brazil was at a level of around 20,000 tons. This was 23,729 in 2011. What is notable is that Peru is becoming more important since 2007. It started in 2007 with a volume of 7,459 ton and by 2011 it had more than doubled to 16,027 ton.
 


The import of papaya to Germany has also decreased compared to 2007. Volumes of 8,725 ton were imported in 2007 and this was at 7,634 in 2011. Important suppliers of papaya to Germany are Brazil and Ecuador. Some countries fluctuate in regards to annual volumes. It was notable that the Ivory coast supplied quite a lot in 2008, but volume was minimal in 2011.
