Israel: Arava Export Growers expand in exotics

Arava Export Growers have recently included in its already vast arsenal a new division dedicated for exotic fruits.

"To better serve our client base, one must comprehend the importance of diversified products. There is no secret to it, the longer you horizontally expand your line of products, the more successful you will be in exceeding your customers' expectations," said Omer Kamp.

"Since all exotics are treated similarly to herbs, in the sense of logistical routes, storage facilities, the two segments work closely with each other. Our obvious agenda is to excel in our tasks. By utilizing existing infrastructures and knowledge, we as a company, can professionally implement a new line of products which, as opposed to creating overheads, will, as a matter of fact, competently contribute to the entire operation as a whole," stated Mr. Avi Bar, the Department's Manager.

As for exotics, this week the company started the export of figs, packed in 1 kg trays and / or punnets. Sizes vary from 16 to 24. "Needless to say, we expect to move large amounts this year. Rumors have it that Brazilian figs will continue to go up in price while the Spanish do not meet the quality of the Israeli. On a personal notion, the flavor, so far, is exceptional. We shall include, as the season starts, passion fruits, pitahayas, litchis, kumquats and more."

The summer season has a well stated reputation of a more measured activity, especially in fresh herbs. Nevertheless, this summer season Arava is experiencing an exponential growth in this sector. According to Avi Bar, the department's manager, the key behind current success is placed with the company's quality assurances and controls. "We conduct numerous lab tests on a weekly basis, routine audits and, continued renewing of our standards and accreditations according to ever-changing EU demands. For instance, we recently achieved the accreditation of ISO 22000 which, at part, replaces BRC."

Be as it may, this doesn’t necessarily mean that obstacles do not exist. Still, despite all efforts, the company has to deal with shortages and quality matters. "In agriculture, there is no such thing as a flawless season. Yet, we persist in analysing and solving each and every problem that may arise. At no point do we leave a customer either misinformed or frustrated. Our range for the summer includes the entire variety of fresh cut herbs, packed in all bunches as specified by the client and, edible flowers of all types."

"Logistically wise, we have the ability to reach every corner of the globe. The marketing team at Arava has countless years of experience backed by Arava Holland with all sorts of logistical solutions." Recently, a new member, Mr. Yair Ohana, had joined the Arava group and will be placed in charge of the French Market. "Taking everything into consideration, we emphasis our capacity to provide a second to none level of service."
