Germany: Three hectares planned for organic cucumber crops
Grower Benjamin Wagner from Reichenau presented the Aach city council with plans to build a new greenhouse complex. The German would like to designate 3 hectares of land for growing organic cucumbers. "The demand for organic products continues to increase. It is our job as growers to meet this demand," says Wagner.
The grower chose Aach because of the Bio-gas installation nearby. "The company can take advantage of the residual heat coming from this installation. I am interested in using this warmth throughout the year. This way I can keep a constant temperature in the green house which will help prevent fungal infections."
