Jan Kors (White Pearl):

Netherlands: Cauliflower prices and quality improving after difficult start

The Dutch cauliflower season started with mediocre quality and prices, but the market has improved slightly. "Varieties that usually grow well are now far behind. Luckily we are no longer dealing with quality issues and the prices have risen to a price between 1,20 and 1,40 Euro," says Jan Kors from the White Pearl growing association.

Jan expects the prices to stay at the same level for the next two weeks. "Dutch supermarkets have switched to the domestic cauliflower and that is favourable for sales. The supply is still steady." According to Kors, the cauliflower acreage for this season is not extensive.
