Lucien de Wit, PeDe:

Good demand for Italian grapes despite high prices

Importer PeDe from Venlo last week received the first Italian grapes. "We offer the varieties Victoria and Black Magic" Lucien de Wit says. "The grapes come from tunnel greenhouses in Sicily and the quality of the grapes is exceptionally good this year. The grapes are very course and the taste is very good. The prices are at a high level. Customers had to get used to this, but finally they all placed repeat orders.

"The advantage is that the grape market is getting slightly empty and the result is a very good demand. The grapes hardly touch sides" the importer continues. "Daily we receive grapes from Italy. For the coming weeks from Sicily. The mainland, the area of Puglia expect to be about ten days later with harvesting than last year. These will therefore only be on the market towards the end of July."
