British Tenderstem broccoli hits the shelves

The first harvest of this year’s British Tenderstem crop has hit the shelves thanks to the recent warm weather and the organic crop of UK Tenderstem is now ready for harvest.

Retailers across the UK have already started stocking the British product. Around 37 tonnes a week of Tenderstem are currently being picked from UK fields, with volumes increasing week on week.

Sussex-based Barfoots grower Nathan Delicott comments: “We’re experiencing a great early start to the British Tenderstem season, and in fact a number of retailers are anticipating stocking 100% British crop in just a few weeks’ time. The quality we are harvesting at the moment is extremely good, and the crop is recovering some of the time lost during the bad weather thanks to the current warm period. This means we can be confident of a good continuity of supply throughout June.”

British Tenderstem will be available until late November, and can be found in most major retailers.
