Spain: Weather in Europe slows prices for melon and watermelon

The commerce of the main products in the Spring campaign from the Almeria province has not been getting the expected prices, until now. The weather instability in the main destination countries in Europe is getting the blame. Melons had a reduced cultivation this year. Cantaloupe has an average price of 0.30 Euro, Galia starts sales at 0.55 Euro ending at 0.30 Euro, yellow melon went up to 0.60 Euro in the first cuts and ended at 0.45 Euro and the category melon varies between 0.45 Euro and 0.30 Euro. The situation for watermelon is similar. Black watermelon with seeds has an average price of 0.14 Euro while black seedless quotes under 0.40 Euro per kilo.

Regarding tomato, prices stayed stable in the last week of May. The branch type is auctioned between 0.35 and 0.20 Euro, green large tomato varies between 0.45 and 0.20 Euro and the sweet tomato is sold between 0.50 and 0.38 Euro per kilo. The pepper offer is reduced to Italian and Lamuyo, as the commerce of California is ended. The Italian green has a first cut at 0.50 Euro and ends at 0.20 Euro, the Italian red quotes between 0.35 and 0.15 per kilo. Lamuyo green reaches a first cut of 1.30 Euro and ends sales at 0.60 Euro per kilo.

The large cucumber keeps a low value and has a first cut of 0.20 Euro, the French cucumber quotes between 0.45 and 0.20 Euro and the Spanish varies between 0.45 and 0.15 Euro per kilo.

Courgette also dropped in price and it's sold between 0.30 and 0.12 Euro per kilo. The price tendency for eggplant is similar with low values. Stripped eggplant has a first cut of 0.65 and ends auctions at 0.35 Euro per kilo. Large eggplant varies between 0.50 and 0.15 Euro per kilo. Lastly, sales of green beans went up. Large "perona" quotes between 1.60 and 1.20 Euro, strike varies between 2.00 and 1.30 and Emerite is sold under 1.80, ending at 0.90 Euro per kilo, according to agronoticias.
