Cauliflower harvest still mainly from south-west Germany

The German cauliflower harvest still mainly comes from the south-west. The harvest in West Germany is now also starting to get going. In the Northern cultivation areas people have started the harvest, but large amounts will only start coming in around week 22, reports the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI).

The pressure from the supply side will become bigger in the coming weeks, as the harvest amounts will increase in the coming time, in the German areas that are a bit later with the harvest as well. This means the price perspectives on average become worse.

Now the inland cauliflower production is getting going, the number of imports from France has already decreased and soon will end completely. In Brittany the harvest amounts are also visibly decreasing now the main season there is ending. At the same time the sales possibilities on the inland and foreign markets are also decreasing, which means the prices of French cauliflower are at a relatively low level at the moment.
