"Le Aie (Italy): "High quality and good demand for Garlic of Voghiera PDO"

FreshPlaza spoke with the company Le Aie about the current marketing situation of 'Aglio di Voghiera DOP' (Garlic of Voghiera PDO).

"The demand of Garlic of Voghiera PDO on the fresh produce market is quite satisfactory for producers and the demand/supply ratio has been in balance for some months. Fortunately sale prices remain stable and this allows farms to plan small but constant investments. For example we were present at Fruit Logistica in February."

"Despite the severe winter weather, the product (next to harvest) does not seem affected. It is possible thus to maintain the high quality characterizing our PDO product" the company said.

"Unfortunately the current market has more and more competitors and maintaining high quality standards is one the few tools to compete with giants such as China."



"Our company operates mainly in the area of Emilia-Romagna region with excellent results. But we want to grow at national and, why not, also international level. This is what we're aiming for!"

Over a few months the fair of Garlic of Voghiera PDO is planned, during the first weekend of August. This is the most important event for this crop.
