Brazil: UGBP ginger season will start soon

Brazil´s ginger season will begin in 1 or 2 months. Exporters expect a very good season, and in the case of UGBP, Frederico Tavares has confirmed to FreshPlaza that during the 2012 campaign it is expected to export 15% more than last season.

During 2011 UGBP exported ginger to the United States, Italy, France, Holland and
The United Kingdom, and as Frederico says "We ecpect to do the same this year." Although ginger from China is in the market with larger volumes than Brazil can offer,
Tavares assures that there is a difference between Brazilian and Chinese ginger. "There are consumers who prefer Brazilian ginger. However, there is a market for everyone. Chinese ginger is cheaper than that of Brazil, but the Brazilian ginger is a
specialty for which is priced a bit higher than the Chinese," says Frederico of the
Brazilian ginger and papaya export company exporter UGBP.

Tavares said that the difference between Chinese and ginger in Brazilian one is largely flavor. "The Brazilian ginger has a better taste, which is preferred by some
consumers."
