"Good demand and nice prices for avocado's"

At the moment avocado's from various countries are on the market. "Mainly from Peru, South Africa and Kenya" the trader mentions. "Prices are really good and are on average for larger and smaller sizes between 6 and 7 euro. That is also what importers want and aim at. Nevertheless there are peaks and dips with various suppliers." According to the importer demand is good at the moment. He is also quite happy about the quality in general. "The Peruvian Hass is good in the market and we only have a few trading problems."

South African avocado's are mainly exported to Russia, according to the trader. "These are firmer than the Peruvian ones and better suitable for the distance." In the Netherlands the trade is also quite happy with the avocado's from Kenya. "Our clients do not want them, but from what I hear in the market the quality of the Kenyan ones is really good. Also the difference in price between Peru and Kenya is not very big."

What is the main cause for the consumption of avocado's? "I think the avocado is not troubled by other fruit or vegetables. It is a totally different product. There is always demand. Prices fluctuate every now and then, but that is because of volumes on the market regularly change. There is always an established group of customers, who buy avocado's. As far as the demand is concerned the market is reasonably stable."
