New face for Aldi Nord
Aldi Nord has invested in the appearance of its branches: since March, in the German Castrop-Rauxel you can see how the discounter sees the future of its stores. After the opening of a model shop in Ghent in Belgium last year, the discounter recently opened on in Germany for the first time. In Lübeck there is already a second store which is adapted to the new style. The changes, which both branches have undergone, will eventually be seen all 2,509 branches of the group.
What is the new-look like? Castrop-Rauxel is now a modern building with flat roof that does not have much in common with the old Aldi Nord-branches, which are often built of red brick and very dark inside. The visitor can recognize the newly designed the discounter from afar by the lit Aldi logo at the entrance. Lots of light and glass and a new floor adapt the appearance inside the store, to changing customer needs. The range was partly reorganized in imitation of the concept of Aldi Süd and expanded with fresh bakery products. The discounter will invest about three billion Euro in the modernization of its branch network. Experts believe that Aldi Nord with this, the largest investment in the company's history will turn the tide of declining sales. The discounter has long been afflicted with revenue declines. This applies particularly to their core business: food.
