Argentina: No access to Brazil for trucks with raisins

At least two trucks transporting raisins from San Juan (Argentina) couldn't get into Brazil. When arriving at the border control, inspectors from Brazil didn't allow the cargo to pass. The reasons pointed to mention the fact that it is "raisin-grape" and that Brazil has a prohibition on the Argentinian grape. This restrction came after mite were found in a cargo of table grapes coming from Mendoza to that Mercosur partner and Brazilians identified it as the Brevipalpus Chilensis.

Alberto Cassab, owner of the company that dries raisins "Cassab" said to sanjuan8.com that a cargo sent by his company couldn't get into Brazil. The cargo was already approved, but an official notified about the prohibition and the truck had to go back. At the company, they prepared yesterday two trucks to send to Brazil, but they had to unload them until the situation is solved.

Cassab pointed to the fact that this is a reprisal from Brazil to the restrictions imposed by Argentina on imports.
