EC present draft on management crisis measures and reform of entry prices

The European Commission will present, in the Management Committee on Tuesday 22nd of May, the proposed regulation on the reform of the management crisis measures in fruit and vegetables and the reform of the entry price.

The presentation of these drafts on regulation were announced by the Commissioner of Agriculture of the European Commission last March, after the meeting with the Ministers of Agriculture of France, Spain and Italy, who made a proposal for reform on measures for crisis management.

According to Dacian Ciolos the Commission's proposals will aim to "improve fruit and vegetable withdrawals from the market in situations of crisis and withdrawals intended for free distribution. More specifically, the Commission intends to review the withdrawal price for some products and simplify and clarify the conditions for the free distribution of fruit and vegetables in times of crisis."

The commissioner said the European Commission also planned to enhance the entry price system "to exclude any possibility of circumventing the rules."

In this sense, FEPEX considers essential for effective measures that can make a real improvement and not mere image proposals to maintain the ineffective current situation.
