Packaging innovations: ILIP takes part in Save Food
According to Save Food’s data, about one third of products gets lost during the process. This waste could be avoided by means of infrastructural adjustments and more innovations in packaging. As far as packaging is concerned, the challenge is to find out packaging materials and solutions that let transport even sensitive food in safe conditions, optimize logistics, keep and protect products in the best way.
ILIP, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary, designed its position within the ILPA group including a new way to deal with environment not only by means of recycling materials but also a commitment to improve the efficiency of the process.
Responsibility message given by ILIP at Fruit Logistics 2012.
"We are sure packaging innovations have an ethic value apart from reducing waste," Roberto Zanichelli explains. "This is the reason why we took part to Save Food project to show our commitment."
"Save the food" project was launched last May and its aim is to get together stakeholders of European food chains – industry, packaging, logistics and distribution – to promote effective solutions to food waste and lost occurring during the process from producers to consumers.
