Italian pecan nuts augur well
The farm manager said, “The pecan market is good right now thanks to recommendations about the nutritional status. Moreover, there is a greater demand for pecan nuts because they are a new product for the Italian consumer.”
The Italian pecan demand is usually supplied by import from Africa, Australia and America. "We can rely on the Italian production which is able to offer a product cultivated with care and respect for the environment. Pecan trees, which are long-lived (about 200 years) and very tall (60 metres), increase the value of the Italian landscape and agricultural ecosystem," says Sirgole farm.

The success of this reforestation is represented by the Pecan trees planted by Sirgole and their taste and quality which are better than other imported products. “Italian Pecans are different from those that are imported, since these have to face up the transport costs and shelf life. For example, Australian nuts are shipped to Italy across Hamburg and England. In this way there is cost waste and quality is at risk. Italian Pecans also compete with African nuts.”
At Sirgole they strongly recommend Kiowa, Wichita and Shoshoni varieties, whose names are taken from epic American Indians.
