UK: Asparagus volumes on the up, again

The British asparagus season has been a bit unpredictable this year, with the first shoots picked at the end of March, exceptionally early, only to be halted in its tracks as the weather turned cold again.

The season is currently running 10 days behind schedule, but good volumes should be available again soon as temperatures rose at the end of last week.

The British Asparagus Festival is continuing despite having to cancel events planned for the bank holiday weekend on the 7th May, due to very wet weather. This week there is even the chance to ride the AsparaBus for a tour through Evesham.

The result of the delay is good news for the celebration for the Queens Jubilee when there should be a good supply of asparagus available.
