Papaya from Mexico enters the United States freely

Although, a few weeks ago a local newspaper in Mexico reported that only one Mexican company could export papaya to the United States, this information was contradicted by several companies in the industry. Among those companies is AGROMOD SA of CV, a Mexican producer of papaya, and whose product is marketed in Mexico and the United States. This company informed FreshPlaza about the real situation on Mexican papayas for export.

"Currently there are several Mexican companies, in several States of Mexico that export papaya to the United States, it is not just one company that can export as was reported previously," said Jorge Fenivesy of Agromod SA de CV.

As well, the FDA website has published this information confirming that the U.S. is allowed to receive Mexican papayas which come from more than one company.
