Andre van Damme (Dacomex) about onion market:

Netherlands: Onion market very quiet

According to Andre van Damme of Dacomex, Dutch onion trader, there is still no improvement in the sales of onions. "Every now and then a lorry goes to Russia and also other destinations, but it is very quiet down the line. The price of the onions is unchanged and low at a level of 3/4 cents depending on the destination.

The quality of the onions is distressing in many cases. "It is really searching for a
'good cell'. They are there, but growers with good onions hesitate in many cases whether they want to sell just now. However, there are sufficient good onions to last till the end of the season, but very many parcels will drop out," Andre concludes. "One knows that there is sometimes a season with bad prices, but I really hope that the quality of the onions will be better next season."
