Poland: Citronex investing in tomatoes

The company Citronex, a direct importer of bananas from Ecuador has undertaken further investments in Poland.

In 2011 the company opened a state-of-the-art distribution centre in Zgorzelec, located by the Polish-German border. This distribution centre is equipped with 60 new chambers for ripening bananas.



At the moment the company ripens about 90 000 boxes of bananas weekly, which are delivered onto supermarket shelves in Poland, Germany and Czech Republic.

In May this year Citronex completed procedures related with the purchase of Siechnice, which is well-known for its high quality tomatoes and cucumbers.



At that moment Citronex owns 20 hectares of an cutting-edge greenhouses. This year this company is going to invest in further 14 hectares of the greenhouse complex in order to increase the harvest of the high quality tomatoes: a top product in Polish supermarket chains.

In January this year Citronex began construction of 96 hectares of new greenhouses near one of the biggest energy nodes in western Poland.

The investment in the new technology for tomato cultivation with the recovery of CO2 and heat will be completed in 2014.
